Hamtramck Mutual Aid Mission
Our mission is to encourage the voluntary, reciprocal, sharing of resources, skills, and ideas among residents of Hamtramck to aid in the liberation of everyone.
History of Hamtramck Mutual Aid
This initiative began in Summer 2020, when some neighbors who knew each other from the Hamtramck Midtown 3C7 Block Clubs collaborated on Covid-19 mitigation efforts and then wanted to do more to connect fellow neighbors to resources and each other. We formed a timebank, volunteered at community gardens, shoveled snow, planted flowers, collected toiletries for donation, picked up trash together, raised money for utility aid, delivered food boxes and built air filters. In 2022 we began partnering with the Every Neighbor Project to assist seniors and neighbors with disabilities with yard work to avoid code violation.
